Everyone can enjoy a satisfying life of love, work and play. However, we may find ourselves in personal patterns, relationships, or with life issues that keep us from living to our fullest. Though circumstances and illness are difficult, our manner of dealing with them determines whether we are happy or sad, engaged or depressed, relaxed or anxious, and even feeling physically unwell or healthy. Trauma and poor coping are often related to our past desperate attempts to take care of ourselves in difficult situations. Through a passionate, humor-filled, authentic journey we can seek to understand and change your life.
Treatment Sessions
We work through our therapy relationship, not thru a set of techniques. You provide the direction for change, what you consciously bring to each session, and what emerges spontaneously between us. We seek to understand your outside life and relationships, as well as your inner life and relationship with yourself.Therapy Relationship
We work relationally and psychodynamically. Research has shown that the relationship between us is the most important factor in successful treatment. The fit, trust, and comfort between us is crucial and so we start there.LGBTQ Positive.
Everyone finds love in their own way. We work with LGBTQ individuals and partners without judgement to aide you in creating a life of love that suits you.
Mind Body.
Our mind, emotions, and body are intimately connected. At times, our bodies have problems that have no medical explanation. Many people suffer needlessly with body issues that are mind or emotion related. It's not a sign of weakness, rather an alternate way our mind/body system functions to "communicate".
We have worked with a variety of problems, including: headaches and migraines, skin rashes, heart beat irregularities, nausea, sudden sleepiness, insomnia, and more. Healing from such mind/body issues can be slow or fast, may or may not bring up difficult emotional history, and often lead to small or large changes in the way we live our lives.
When faced with a mind/body issue and a willingness to sort it out with us, many people get comlete and permanent relief.

PTSD Injury, Crime, War .
Trauma has a deep and profound effect on lives. Abuse, rape, assault, injury and war-related experiences can leave a lasting impact. It's more than a memory of something terrible, it's a sore spot in our psyche that gets stimulated by something in our present day, but triggers a re-connection to the earlier traumatic experience. When triggered we might feel like are re-living that traumatic experience or we may dissociate from it, both of which are very disruptive. PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, meaning after the trauma is over we continue to live with the "stress" of it.
The essence is PTSD is in getting "stuck" in consciously facing the detailed emotional experience of the trauma. If we dont face the trauma, we remain stuck with PTSD. In working throught the, often suprising, emotions around the traumatic experience, we are freed of the "stuckness" (PTSD) and it is converted from a "stuck still re-living of a traumatic experience" into a "remembered, past traumatic experience".
Trauma Early Abuse.
Early childhood trauma leaves a profound and sometimes almost invisible impact on our lives. We can grow up around the trauma much like a tree can scar and grow around broken, bent, or puctured parts of itself. We grow up to be adolescents and adults living with the scars of trauma, often not even making a connection between the abuse we experienced and the problematic ways we live out our lives.
Early abuse experiences can lead to unsatisfying and abusive relationships, limit our pursuit of happiness and success, leave us chronically anxious, and can cause us to temporarily blank out emotionally or entirely.
We have helped people work through and be free of terrible physical, emotional, and sexual trauma history. It can be difficult emotional work for sure, but as time has passed we have gained distance and a greater ability to deal with the horror we experienced.
Trauma Intergenerational.
Your parents and even grandparents powerful emotional experience can be "transmitted" to you. This happens in two ways, socialization and, research shows, through genetic means. You can be literally be living with anxiety, stress, fearfulness, and depression that were handed down to you from your parents. Some examples include: experience from war-time, slavery, and the holocaust.
Fortunately, you can free yourself of intergenerational trauma, including resetting the genetic markers that emphasize mood. Psychotherapy, meditation, and other practices that steadily re-orient you towards calmness and safety. This can lead to an emergence of your natural ambition, creativity, security, and intimacy.
